Dr. Carmichael is a Registered Nurse, Doctor of Metaphysics and Divinity, Interfaith Minister and Ayurvedic Practitioner, as well as the Founder & CEO of the Kalyana Centre in Narberth, PA. Her desire to create a place of beauty, healing and transformation where people can come to experience a variety of modalities in Alternative Medicine resulted from an intention that began before she left the pharmaceutical research industry permanently in 2008 after a 20+ year career.
She has been practicing in the nursing field for over 30 years. Her background includes psychiatric nursing prior to doing pharmaceutical research. During that time, simultaneous studies in Holistic Health, Metaphysics, Divinity, Past Life Regression, Yoga, Meditation, and Ayurveda have given her a well-rounded perspective on health and healing and its intimate relationship to spirituality. Ordained an Interfaith Minister in December 2002, she continues to deepen her understanding and experience of these topics as an integrative/holistic and preventive medicine consultant and teacher. She is also an adjunct professor at the Villanova University College of Nursing and is a regular instructor for ATECAM Holistic Nursing lectures that provide CME's to medical professionals.
She completed the Vedic Mastery program at the Chopra Center in Carlsbad, CA under the inspired direction of Drs. David Simon and Deepak Chopra in 2007 and is a certified Chopra Center instructor of Primordial Sound Meditation, Perfect Health (Ayurveda), and the Seven Spiritual Laws of Yoga. She completed an internship in Ayurvedic Medicine in 2010 in Coimbatore, India and is a graduate of the New Jersey Institute of Ayurveda where she completed her Diploma in Ayurvedic Medicine in 2012.
“Learning and practicing the ancient healing art of Ayurveda can facilitate the creation of unity within ourselves, with each other, the earth and the universe.” - Dr. Joanna Carmichael
Her belief in the interconnectedness between physiology, psychology and spirituality and the need for conventional as well as complementary modalities provides a vast array of choices by which the individual can begin their journey into healing.
She has been a guest on radio talk shows. local television, and writes and speaks about spirituality as it relates to health and well being in addition to various topics on prevention and complementary medicine. She hosts her own radio program on www.blogtalkradio.com/kalyana with her co-host and professional colleague, Nick Colasanti and is now a contributor on the Simply Holistic Living Summits on Periscope.
“Starting the Kalyana Centre has been a dream come true. My intention to do this at a time where we need healing on all levels became manifest…. I had the vision and now the vision has me…”
