Greetings, pet lovers! Many people ask my Mom if there is holistic health for pets, and the answer is a resounding Woof! She has been taking care of all of us, including my cat-brothers, Alf, and Lion (who also has diabetes, asthma, a heart murmur, and various other anomalies), and our Canary, Shanti, with holistic care since we have been with her and we all feel great.
This does not mean that traditional western veterinary care does not have its place - it does, however, keeping us healthy with great nutrition, home cooking, (including lots of treats), exercise, play, and immune boosting supplements, like Ashwaghanda (Yes, we have to do Ayurveda too!) makes trips to the vet less frequent, and more pleasant when we go. And if you have any doubts as to the effectiveness of holistic treatment, like acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, remember, there is no placebo effectin animals! This stuff really works! She manages Lion’s diabetes and asthma with a combination of insulin, Acupuncture, Chinese and Ayurvedic herbs and essential oils and he continues to be a stable and happy little guy.
By the way, I am an 8 year-old, 92 pound Labradoodle and have been with my Mom since I was 4 months old. Mom feeds me sweet potatoes with ghee, turmeric and garlic which keeps me flea and tick free naturally and keeps my joints flexible, and eyes & coat healthy. My favorite things are running around the property, rolling in the grass, getting lots of treats (after I finish my meal), carrying around my toys & tennis balls, and waking my mom up with sloppy kisses & tail wags.
